Iheanacho scores first Eagles goal as Nigeria defeat Mali

The Super Eagles of Nigeria managed a one goal win over
the Eagles of Mali at the Stade Robert Dichon in Rouen,
France.
A Kelechi Iheanacho strike in the 77th minute gave Nigeria
the much sought win over their West African neighbours.

The goal also gave the player spectacular accolades from
his club as a Tweet was posted congratulating the 19-year-
old.

The last time these two teams met was at the 2013 Africa
Cup of Nations semifinal, where the Nigerians thrashed the
Malians 4 – 1 on their way to winning the trophy for a third
time.

Most of the regular faces in the Super Eagles were missing
in the encounter as some were allowed to feature at the
Joseph Yobo Testimonial which went down in Port Harcourt.
The international friendly was aimed at preparing the three-
time African champions for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers,
which begins in October.
The Nigerian contingent will now depart France for
Luxembourg for another friendly against the national team
of that country on Tuesday, May 31.
