BREAKING: Fire engulfs 100 shanties at Kuramo, 2 killed #Beekhaybee

– About 100 shanties at Kuramo in Lekki
area of Lagos, have been engulfed by wild
fire

Emerging reports from social media suggest
that a fire outbreak in the Lekki area Lagos
has led to the death of two people.
Gidi Traffic reports that the fire started this
morning and has destroyed over 100 shanty
structures at Kuramo in Lekki, Lagos.
The reports indicate that there are two
fatalities.
Rescue operations are ongoing, as men of
the fire service are combating the flames.

It is feared that the death toll may rise.

Meanwhile, in a chat with The News, the
director of Lagos state fire service, Rasak
Fadipe informed that the burnt bodies of a
man and a woman were recovered at the
scene.
He said: “The shanties spread to about four
plots of land. We got information that the
fire started at about 3.15 a.m.
“Information we got was that a young lady
was cooking in one of the shanties and
there was a fuel container nearby, which
ignited the fire and spread to other parts.
“It took us about four hours to put out the
fire. My men did not know there was
anybody inside while they were fighting the
fire.
“We met the man and woman in two
different locations roasted after we finally
put out the fire.”
The director also informed that the corpses
were handed over to police officers from
Ilasan division, who later took them to the
mortuary.
