Buhari should extend his anti- corruption campaign To MDAs

Hon. Albert Ashipa, the president of
Association of Ex-Local Government
Chairmen in Nigeria (ASELGON), has
applauded President Muhammadu Buhari on
his fight against corruption.
He said the large sum of money allegedly
being traced to some civil servants since
the president started the war against
corruption is commendable, The Nation
reports.
Speaking during a sideline meeting of
ASELGON central working committee, in
Abuja, Ashipa said no corrupt politicians
could embezzle money without involving
public officials, especially in the MDAs and
parastatals.
“Pressures will be less on the state and
federal governments if councils are not
overstretched to deliver on campaign
promises, hospitals will run efficiently and
effectively if corruption is decisively tackled
head-on the way Buhari’s government is
going about it ,” Ashipa said.
He called on Buhari to extend his anti-
corruption campaign to Ministries,
Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

Ashipa said there was a need for the
culture of fraud in public service to be put
to an end and also for all stolen funds to be
back into government coffers.
“Corruption has assumed the status of
great demon which every citizen must join
hands to fight to standstill,” he said.
The ASELGON president said the
association was committed to supporting
any government determined to fight
corruption and impunity, whether at the
state or federal levels.
He also urged Buhari not to pay attention
to those criticizing the prosecution of
accused individuals involved in the arms
deal fraud.
Lai Mohammed, the minister of information
and culture recently said the federal
government knows the identity of those who
have embezzled Nigeria’s resources .
He noted that anti-corruption war must be
won for the nation to achieve sustainable
growth.
